Pitch Perfect and The Impossible

Now I haven't been to the cinema for ages but last week I managed to squeeze two films in, I saw Pitch Perfect and The Impossible

Pitch perfect is a film about Beca a freshman who doesn't really want to be in university but wants to go to LA and become a big time DJ. Her father who is also a lecturer at the uni makes her a deal that if she gives uni a year and makes an effort to join a group and make friends then he will pay for her to go to LA. So Beca joins the Bella's an all girl singing Capella group, and they try out for a competition with fellow group the treblemakers. There are some great songs, a little bit of romance and really hilarious parts. Anna Kendrick who plays Becca who you may also know from Twilight and what to expect when you are expecting captures the screen and has an amazing voice she is fast becoming a rising star. Also starring along side her is Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin who is gorgeous and he has an amazing voice and the hilarious Rebel Wilson who seems to bring amazing humour to any film she is in.
The soundtrack is great I managed to get it a few days after watching the film and I love it, it has a few songs missing that I feel should have been on there but it is still worth a listen. So if you haven't seen this film check it out!

The Impossible is based on a family that survived the 2004 South Asia tsunami  which claimed thousands of lives. This stars Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts who are spending their Christmas break in a newly opened seafront hotel resort with their three children. On boxing day disaster strikes and while they are swimming in the pool they are caught up in the wave and they get separated. Throughout the film you are shown the horrors of what people experienced and witnessed and I cried though most of the film because you are hoping and praying that they all survive and make it back to each other. All of the actors in this film where fantastic even the younger stars who played the children were great. If you are thinking of going make sure you take a hankie.

New shows and new music

So there is a new TV shows that have me totally hooked, Rizzoli & Isles. If you haven't seen it then check it out because you will not be disappointed.
Rizzoli & Isles is based on series of book by Tess Gerristen, as soon as I watched the pilot episode I went out the next day and brought the first book and I cannot put it down. The series stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander. Harmon played tough Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and Alexander plays Dr Maura Isle a Boston medical examiner. Although both character's are completely different the chemistry between them is fab they just seem to click. Also it helps that it stars the eye candy Jordan Bridges who plays Rizzoli's younger brother Frankie who just graduated from the police academy.
It shows on Alibi Tuesday's 9pm (UK)

Music I can't stop listening to:
  • Does anybody hear her - Casting Crow
  • I wish that I could see you soon - Herman Dune
  • Trophy - Bat for Lashes
  • Unbeautiful - Lesley Roy
  • Fall in to me - Sugarland
  • Breathe - Superchick
  • Just a kiss - Lady Antebellum
  • For Good - Indina Menzel & Kristen Chenoweth
  • What you want - Evanescence
  • I'll wait for you - Joe Nichols

Movie weekend

Today is my seveneth day of my new diet and I am happy to say I lost 3lb this week, I have been on the special K diet where I eat two bowls a day one for breakfast and one for lunch then a sensible meal in the evening. I have also cut out all soda, chocolate, cakes and crisps. I am usually terrible at sticking to diet but I am actually enjoying this one I am really motivated to get back in to shape and keep a healthy diet.
On thursday I also started Zumba, I have done salsa and contry dancing in the past but nothing this energetic. To say I have the rythm of an ironing board is an understatement but I will get the hang of it in the end :)

I managed to get to the cinema this weekend and watch the new cowboy and aliens and it is fantastic. It makes a change for Harrison Ford to play a bad guy however he pulled it off and even made the characther likeable so even though you start off hating him you end up routing for him. Daniel Craig as always doesn't disappoint however his performance did remind me slighy of James Bond but I love Bond and I loved this. So Craig plays a wanted outlaw Jake who wakes up in the desert with no memory and a strange bracelet on his wrist heads in to the nearest town. When he arrives a series of events lead him right in the middle of an attack by alien ships. The bracelet on his wrist activates and he manages to destroy on of the craft. Harrison Ford plays a grumpy civil war vet Dolarhyde and together with Craig they set out to save the towns people which includes Dolarhyde son. They mount a rescue group and it consist of a cowardly doctor looking for his wife, a precher, sherifs young grandson and a strange woman Ella who is just quite not what she seems. Ella is played by Olivia Wilde who to be honest did out shine the leading guys in some parts, but I don't want to give to much away and spoil it. This is a must see and you will be kicking yourself if you miss it.

Beastly - Now this film I have been waiting months to watch, I know it is pretty obvious what is going to happen because we have all seen the film Beauty and the beast. However I can't resist a good love story and this film does not disappoint. It stars Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer. Pettyfer plays a self obessed teen who thinks looks are everything, when he humiliates a fellow student who happens to be a witch she curses him that if he doesn't find love in a year he will remain ugly and she make him to what he thinks as unloveable and hideous. Hudgens plays a daughter of a drug addict and she is sent to stay with Pettyfer for her protection and overtime she falls in love with him. But does she break the curse? Watch to find out this is a great film

Insidious - Now when I saw this advertised at the cinema the trailer scared me which is rare because I love horror films. However I saw it in blockbuster and thought I would give it ago. It has quite a good storyline but could have a been better in some parts, but the scare factor is great at one point I had goosebumps. Ending could have been better as it just finishes at a cliffhanger which makes you think what was the whole point if you are going to end it like that. But as a stand alone horror it doesn't disappoint one to watch if you fancy being scared senseless

There are a few songs which I can't not stop listening to lately and they are:
  • Ed Sheeran - A Team (Acoustic)
  • Res - Tsunami
  • Levi Kreis - I should go
  • Garrett Hedlund - Give in to me
  • Leighton Meester - A little bit stronger
  • Bon Iver - Skinny Love
  • Kal Lavelle - Shivers

Let the fun times begin!!!!

I am on holiday now for the next nine days. I haven't got much planned but am looking forward to relaxing with my family. Also I need to get packed and sorted for my Disneyland mini holiday which is fast approaching.

The music I can't stop listening to is Ed Sheeran EP You need me, it is amazing. If you haven't heard it check it out you won't be disappointed

And finally Temple cloud - One big family (which is featured on the KFC advert) again if you haven't heard it check it out, it is one of them songs that you can just listen to over and over and can't resist singing along with.

TV to check out
Now when I joined Lovefilm I rented out the Point Pleasant boxset, now I know it is quite an old series however I never had chance to watch it. But now I have had chance each episode has had me more and more hooked. It was originally aired in 2005 staring Elisabeth Harnois and the hotness Sam Page. Elisabeth Harnois plays Christina the daughter of Satan, she washes up on the beach at Point Pleasant being rescued by Jesse (Sam Page). Jesse and Christina are drawn together and fall in love believing it is their destiny to be together however they soon discover that they are destined but not to be together Jesse' destiny is to kill Christina and Christina's is to unleash hell on earth.
But when I got to the final episode and it ended I was sad for it to be finished and find out that it was originally cancelled and not due to ever make any more. I can never understand when you get a good series and then it gets cancelled and you get left with an open ending. It is the same for series like Firefly, Lost world and Hex I really got into them and wasted my time watching them to only be disappointed by an ending cut short and loads of questions unanswered. OK so rant over, check it out if you haven't seen it, even though it has a not so great ending there are some fantastic episodes throughout the series
